Julia and I have been busy with our documentarians, Christine & Q (cinematographer). We’ve had great conversations (which were filmed) with a lot of understanding expressed for the Canadian health system. We’re often accustomed to people telling stories about how much the Canadians hate their health systems. Our conversations with people here in the Upper Peninsula (Canada is literally next door), don’t confirm or in any way validate those disgruntled stories. These people have told us that their sense of the Canadian health system is that it is equitable and great. One man said the stories of the long queues, are true in part – but they mainly relate to elective surgery. Many of our conversations led to people suggesting they’d like to be in Canada to receive their health care. But I guess it’s not surprising – we have a biased sample of people with whom we speak (back home) related to Canadian health system who say it’s horrible. Bottom line – it’s been great working on the documentary.
The long lines are mostly for cataracts and hip surgery, Non-urgent,
I finished pre med at U Michigan. To get accepted required a GPA of least 3.5 unless you were from upper peninsula- 2,5 will do if you swear to practice up there forever JD

Thanks, Jim. Do you have a reference for the long lines in Canada and elective, non-urgent surgery? It’s certainly my understanding, but a reference would be great. Thanks. Paul
